How long have you been a teacher? Have you taught elsewhere (besides WCSD)?
I have been a teacher for 11 years. I taught two years in NYC in a program called the New York City Teaching Fellows. After I finished the program, I began teaching here at Washingtonville and have been here ever since!
What is something you enjoy doing (when you are not teaching)?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I also love to travel!
This year, what is something you will be teaching that has always been fun or a topic that your class has always enjoyed in the past?
Being an inclusion teacher, I get to teach with a lot of awesome teachers! This year I am looking forward to reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" with Mrs. Leonard's English class. I also love teaching World War I and World War II with Mrs. Hagan's Social Studies class.
What college did you attend and what made you choose education as a career?
I went to Manhattan College for my Undergraduate Degree and Queens College for my Master's Degree. I am also a graduate of Washingtonville, and had some pretty great teachers along the way. They certainly influenced my decision to become a teacher.
What advice would you give to your students to remember after they have graduated High School?
The advice I would give my students to remember after they have graduated is to do what makes you happy!
