Regular school attendance is required of all pupils. Frequent absences can severely affect a pupil's learning. The school recognizes there are some absences that are unavoidable and urge that sick children remain at home. However, we just as strongly urge that well children be sent to school. Parents are encouraged to assist in this regard.
As part of the Dignity for All Students Act, each District must appoint a District Level DASA Coordinator as well as Building Level DASA Coordinators, which is Ms. Pittman at WMS. These people are appointed to help create an environment of respect and dignity for all students and to make sure there is a safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and where they are free from harassment and bullying of any kind. The coordinator will meet with the complainant and investigate their complaint. The complainant may wish to meet with someone else such as a principal or guidance counselor or a teacher. If so, that person is mandated to report the complainant to the Building Level Dignity Act Coordinator. For more information visit our District DASA page by clicking here.
