Chrome Extensions and Apps

Similar to what used to be a desktop application, Google's apps include photo editors, video players, and games; all of which run within the Chrome browser.

Extensions are different from apps. Extensions extend the functionality of Google Chrome and the websites being viewed in it. For example, they can extend Google Chrome by adding a new button to the address bar such as Google Dictionary. This extension makes it easy for users to define words at the click of a button.

Manage Chrome Apps and Extensions

Chrome apps and extensions can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store. The Chrome Web Store contains thousands of apps and extensions for users of all kind, including students. Because we are aware that some of the apps and extensions available are not educationally appropriate, the ability to add Chrome apps and extensions is managed by the WCSD Technology Department. Teachers request to have appropriate apps and extensions pushed out to each student's Chrome account.
