Dignity for All Students
As part of the Dignity for All Students Act, each District must appoint a District Level Dignity Act Coordinator as well as Building Level Dignity Act Coordinators. These people are appointed to help create an environment of respect and dignity for all students and to make sure there is a safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and where they are free from harassment and bullying of any kind. The coordinator will meet with the complainant and investigate their complaint. The complainant may wish to meet with someone else such as a principal or guidance counselor or a teacher. If so, that person is mandated to report the complainant to the Building Level Dignity Act Coordinator. If the complainant is not satisfied with the outcome, they may appeal to the District Level Dignity Act Coordinator, Lynn Imperato, Director of Personnel and Staff Development. She can be reached at (845) 497-4000, Ext. 27102. Her office is located in the Administration Building at 52 West Main Street, Washingtonville.
