“Not One More Program” at WHS
WCSD
Monday, September 09, 2019

On September 10th at 6:30 PM, Washingtonville High School will present its annual “Not
One More Program” in the High School auditorium for all interested parents and students.

The “Not One More Program” involves several local agencies, working collaboratively to bring
attention to the too many vehicular fatalities and injuries involving young people in our region. It
is the mission of the program, as well as other presentations provided to the students throughout the year, that the comprehensive workshops serve to better promote safe teen driving among the student body. Ultimately, the overarching message to our students is the importance of making good choices and the importance of adhering to safe driving practices at all times.

John Jones from the Orange County Stop DWI Program will be leading the presentation. Mr.
Jones has over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Specifically, Mr. Jones has worked in
traffic safety and, regrettably, has been a first responder to many accidents involving teenagers in our county.

Another key presenter in the “Not One More” campaign is Mr. Brian Strommer. Mr. Strommer is a Washingtonville Alumni and he will be sharing his story with our students. Mr. Strommer lost his son in a car accident. His goal is to help students make good decisions in hopes of helping stop another tragedy.

Additionally, the “Not One More” presentation will include many emergency personnel representatives from across the county including both the Washingtonville and Blooming Grove
Police Departments.

Parents are encouraged to bring their students to the September 10th program. The message is
undoubtedly important and may help to prevent a future tragedy in our community. All students
are invited to attend, but all Seniors who wish to obtain their senior parking pass will be required
to attend. We understand that in some cases a presentation like this hits close to home. We will
have support staff at the presentation. If you are a senior and you are unable to attend, please
contact Mrs. Kristin Shaw, Assistant Principal for 12th grade at 845-497-4000 x 24507.
