Dan Wargo is one of our newest additions to the Social Studies Department this year. A graduate of Duquesne University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education/Citizenship and Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a Masters in Secondary Education, Mr. Wargo has been assigned to teach Global History II and Economics and Government.

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, he is a huge Pittsburgh sports fan. He also is an assistant coach for the girls’ Varsity Swimming and Diving team. He is excited to be a part of the Washingtonville community and wishes to send along the following message to his students: “Always strive to do great things in life. Never be afraid of failure, but instead, learn from past mistakes and improve upon them.”

Here’s to a great year!

Amy Ryder is another great addition to our Social Studies Department. Ms. Ryder is currently teaching sections of both Global Studies I and Global Studies II. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication/Broadcast Production from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC and her Masters of Science in Teaching in Adolescence Education: Social Studies from Iona College in New Rochelle.

Ms. Ryder grew up locally in Goshen, New York. After going to college in the south, she lived in New York City for 10 years where she worked in the entertainment industry. Most prominently, she worked as part of the production staff for the daytime talk show, “The View.”

She began her teaching career in the South Bronx, but is excited to return home to Orange County where she looks forward to continuing her career in the district for many years to come!

Therese Berinati is a recent addition to our Special Education Department. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature from Fordham University, followed by her Master’s Degree in Adolescent Education from Mercy College. She is excited to be teaching sections of Integrated English for both the 9th and 11th grade, as well as being assigned as a Modified Block Reading Teacher.

In her spare time, she is an avid reader, loves to spend time with family and friends, and enjoys trivia games. She is a Zumba enthusiast, too! Ms. Berinati looks forward to working closely with the students, faculty, and staff of Washingtonville High School to make this a successful year for all!

Luke Bruscino proudly returns to his high school alma mater as part of the Social Studies team this year and currently teaches sections of US History and Social Studies 12.

Mr. Bruscino attended University of Albany and graduated with a degree in History before going on to complete his Master’s program at Mount Saint Mary’s College, concentrating in Social Studies Education. He definitely has a love of sports, having been on both the basketball and hockey teams during his time at WHS and continues to play golf in his spare time.

Mr. Bruscino is very excited to be back at Washingtonville and looks forward to giving back to a place that, he states, “has given him so much.”
