Welcome! As high school seniors getting ready to embark upon your life after high school, it should become clear that government and economics affects your everyday lives in greater ways. The primary focus of this course is to help you grow more aware of the functions of our government and economy. You should leave this class knowing that you can make a difference and be a productive member of society. You will be responsible for organizing and managing the curriculum materials in this course and I challenge you to become a more independent learner. Please keep in mind that this is a mandatory class for graduation.

Students are currently working on their "Democracy Is...project?"  The project is due 4/24.  
Students will be participating in a "Get Out the Vote" drive on May 10th to register voters before the School Budget Vote on May 15th
Current Event Template:

Ø Attach the article to back of written summary or paste link.

Ø List the title, date, author and source of each article.

Ø Write or type a brief summary (three-four sentences) on the article.

Ø State level of government involved (Federal, State, Local, International)

Ø Identify the key players (what person, corporation, branch of govt.?)

Ø In one to three sentences, identify and explain the following with regards to your article: social conditions, economic concepts, political/government concepts.

Ø State the public policy issue (all the things a government decides to do - in question form: Should the federal government ban/support...?):

Ø If you were in a position of political and economic power, what specific public policy would you design in response to this issue? Justify your response.

Ø Please be neat and legible; typed if possible.
