Cadets Taylor Dorozynski, Bradley Clardy, Kyle Thompson, Matthew Sheehan, Gavan O’Brien, Anthony Witte, Kevin Auguste, MacKenzie Thompson, Alec Sullivan, Sarah Witte, Alyssa Pagano, and Thomas Sheboy, all did a phenomenal job as their team and drill commanders. Cadet Isabella Witte earned second place in the individual Knockout Competition where all cadets at the meet vie for one of the top three spots. The end results for the meet were five first places and two trophies each for second and third place.
Additionally, they won the League and overall winner trophies. This qualifies them to compete at the Brigade Drill Meet at Francis Lewis High School in NYC on March 4, 2017. They will be competing against JROTC Programs that have ten times the number of cadets on their teams. This has served to only motivate the Washingtonville JROTC Cadets to practice harder. They are determined to do well enough to make it to the regionals, and possibly even the nationals in Louisville, KY. Their Army Instructor, Chief Brickel, stated, “They have worked hard up to this point and their efforts were rewarded with the win. Now the truly hard work begins as they get ready for the next level of competition. Regardless of how they do, I could not be prouder of their commitment and all they have and will accomplish.”
