He has enjoyed performing magic for 13 years. He also competes nationally and internationally in Duel Line Sport Kiting. In recent years he was ranked 3rd in the world for the Pairs event and 13th in the world for Individuals. Doodling while on the phone (better known as "desk art") Jim Briggs: High School Instrumental Music Jim Briggs has Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Performance degrees from the Crane School of Music/SUNY Potsdam and a School District Leader certificate. He has performed as a saxophonist throughout the United States and in Montreal, Canada. He has 18 years of public school teaching experience in Orange County, NY and Montreal. He is currently a band director at Washingtonville High School where he is also the music department chair. He is the musical director for the 18 piece big band, the “New York Swing Exchange”. He teaches saxophone and other woodwinds privately at his home in Montgomery, NY. Angelo Marcialis: Middle School Instrumental Music Mr. Marcialis has been teaching Instrumental Music since 1985. He has taught at all three levels (Elementary, Middle School and High School) with middle level education being the main emphasis. Marcialis is a graduate of "Berklee College of Music" and "Manhattanville College", where he received his Bachelors of Music and Masters of Arts in Music Education repectively. Marcialis has been on staff in the Washingtonville District since 2003 and directs the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and various Chamber Groups depending on the year. Mr. M. is a member of the following Professional Organizations: Music Educators’ National Conference, New York State School Music Association, New York State Band Directors’ Association, Orange County Music Educators’ Association (Vice President; 2003- 2005), International Trumpet Guild and the National Band Association. Ingrid Narken: Middle School Vocal Music Ingrid Narken is a native of the Hudson Valley area having grown up in Poughkeepsie. She received a B.S. in music theory and composition from SUNY New Paltz and a MS degree in music education from Western Connecticut State University. Ms. Narken has performed throughout Dutchess, Ulster, and Orange County with many area choral groups. Ms. Narken has taught vocal and general music at Washingtonville Middle School in Orange for the past 17 years. She has been musical director for school productions of “Annie,” Grease,” “The Wizard of Oz,” and “The Apple Tree.” She also has been a guest conductor for the Ulster All-County Festival and an All-County Festival in Portland, Maine. In addition to music Ms. Narken is an avid golfer and coaches volleyball for the Washingtonville School district. Nick Sgammato: Elementary Vocal Music Mr. Sgammato holds degrees in Music and Education from Columbia University and SUNY College at New Paltz, with additional graduate study at the University of Miami School of Music. He has been teaching Music since 1980, and in Washingtonville, at Round Hill, since 1989. Outside of school, Mr. Sgammato has had a long career playing, singing, and directing many different kinds of music. He is married and has three children and two granddaughters.
