April 26, 2013 ELA & Math State Tests are completed! Students were prepared and did a good job. It was a tough schedule; however, we worked in much needed breaks throughout the day. Today, we celebrated by enjoying the beautiful weather outside. Kids played games, danced, and ran around to blow off steam. We all needed it! Thank you to Mrs. Bunning for sending in snacks for our homeroom! They loved it. Science: 6R & 6C: The food chains were due and collected today. Review for Tuesday's Quiz: Ch 7: Adapatations, Food Chains & Water Cycle. 6N: Food chains are due on Monday. Review for Wednesday's Quiz: Ch 7: Adapatations, Food Chains & Water Cycle. April 19, 2013 TGIF... It was a long week with three days of ELA testing! The kids did a great job following the new procedures. They were prepared as they have been working hard all year. Science: If anyone did not complete the Adaptations cut/paste/paragraph worksheet, please have this done for the next class. Many of you did not have your biome rubrics signed. Be sure to get this done. LA: Read 15-20 minutes nightly. NY Math tests are April 24-26.
April 8/9, 2013 Science: Quiz on Ecosystems on Friday (6R & 6C) and Monday (6N). Bring in proof of studying: flash cards, game, webpage, illustration, etc. Review: Chapter 6, Lessons 1 & 2 vocabulary and Lesson 3 in Chapter 7. ELA: We are currently working on NYS ELA test prep. Today, we analyzed the new 2-Point Rubric and practiced grading our own short response questions that connect to the UDHR. The students did a great job and felt like it was very worthwhile. Get the UDHR quiz signed.
March 22, 2013 Happy Spring Break! Enjoy the vacation. Come back rested and ready to complete the last leg of the school year! Science: Today, the students completed their Biome research projects. They are so creative! Great work, PRIDE Team! Any student who was unable to finish (there were only a few) may do so over the break. Be sure to email it to me or provide a hard copy on the first day back from vacation. Any projects handed in after 4/1 will be late and points will be deducted. ELA: Read nightly. We will complete the UDHR books when we return. March 20, 2013 Science 6C: If you missed class today due to Chorus, be sure to find time to work on your presentantion. January 8, 2013 Unfortunately, I am still not feeling well from the pneumonia I had over the holidays. I plan on returning to school on Thursday. We are finishing up the unit on The Earth this week.
