Tittle: The Tale of Despereaux
Author: Kate DiCamillo
Illustrator: Timothy Basil Ering
"The story is a story of a mouse, Despereaux Tilling, a mouse in love with music, stories, and a princess named Pea. It is also the story of a rat called Roscuro, who lives in the darkness, but covets a world filled with light, and it is the story of Miggrery Sow, a slow-witted serving girl with a simple, impossible wish. These characters are to embark on a journey that will lead them down into a horrible dungeon, up into a glittering castle, and ultimatly into each others lives."
One thing I like was how Despereaux has the courage to fight the darkness and bring light to the dungeon. Another thing I liked was the way Despereaux loves Pea, but can't marry her, but can be best friends, so he is able except that.
I think every age should read it even if you can't read it ask an adult. I think you'll like it!

The Red Pyramid
By: Rick Riordan
Carter and Sadie's Mom dies when they were 6 years old and they get separated. Sadie lives with her grandparents while Carter is living with his dad out of a suitcase. Once they are united on Christmas Eve they go to the Museum of Natural History with their dad Julius. Julius does an experiment that goes terribly wrong. He summons an Egyptian God. Carter and Sadie have to stop the Egyptian God before he wakes up the other Gods.
Two things I like about this book is it flips back and forth to the characters past and to the characters present. Another thing is it has challenging words so you can think about them.
You should read this book because it is really good and it has challenging words. That's why people in 3
rd
grade or higher should read this amazing book.

Tittle: The New Year's Eve Sleepover From The Black Lagoon Author: Mike Thaler. Illustrator: Jared Lee.
Eric is having a New Year's Eve sleepover. But Hu bie has never spent a night away from home. Hubie is going to be in a strange place. So he tried to get out of going to the sleepover, but it does not work. So he has to go. Two things I like about the book are how it tells a good lesson and how he thinks he is not going to like it and he does. There was nothing I did not enjoy about the book because it teaches a good lesson and how it is based on a holiday. I think everyone in 2nd grade and up will like and understand this book. |
Title: The Ghost of Fossil Glen Author: Cynthia Defelice Cover Design: April Ward and Kathleen Breitenfeld
A girl named Allie Nichols knows she's being pursued by a ghost. While she dealing with the ghost girl, she helps Allie with figuring out what is going on by telling her about herself ( Lucy), like showing Allie her diary. During all of that, Allie finds out who a true friend is. I LOVE two things about this book. I like the mystery of the book; I did not want to put it down! I also I LOVED how Allie deals with regular life like friendships it's not only all about the ghost girl. Something I did not liked about the book is that it ended!!!!!! I think that 4th 5th and 6th graders would enjoy this book. It is perfect for them, but older kids like 7th or 8th graders can read it as well as 3rd graders.

It Is also sad because you find out that Ferns dad wants to kill Wilbur.
Finally this story makes you feel good because your friends care about you and they will stick up for you.

The Miraculous Journey of Eduward Tulane
Author:
Kate DiCamillo
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a great book. It's about a girl named Abilene who owned this bunny and it was made entirely out of china. She loves her bunny. She treats Edward like hes part of the family.
One day the Tulane family went on a cruise. Abilene and Eduward were on the deck and two mean boys threw him over board and his Miraculous journey began there. I don't dislike anything about this book and recemind it to kids ages 8 to 13. |

She has been near death - and survival is her 2
nd

![]() SHILOH
Do you like realistic fiction stories? Do you enjoy reading books about dogs and their miraculous lives? If you answered yes to these useful questions, then this book is your type!
Shiloh is a dog owned buy Judd, Martin's neighbor.
Judd abuses all of his dogs, but when Martin finds Shiloh is the woods behind his own house, he knows that he can't return him.
Sneaking leftovers from the fridge isn't that easy after all, and mom and dad are starting to notice.
Still, they don't know, being mom and dad, that Martin is hiding Shiloh.
There is nothing about this book that I don't like exept that sometimes it is a little hard to read because it takes place in the south so the people talk in a southern accent. This book is highly recommended to everyone from the age 7 and up, so please read it!!!! |
Title: Smile
Author: Rania Telgemeir
Smile is an EXCELLENT book! J I recommend this book to people the ages 10-14 years old. I recommend this book to people those ages because Rania goes from Middle School to High School. In the book it shows how Raina has to go through different stages to get her teeth fixed.
In the beginning of the story Raina falls after a Girl Scouts meeting and her 2 front teeth get damaged.
One falls out and the other gets pushed up.
She has to go from Middle School to High School with braces, a retainer, headgear, and all of this other wacky stuff to protect her teeth.
Through all of this she goes through boy drama, and she finds out her friends aren't really her friends.
At the end of the story Raina finds out that she is perfect the way she is, even with wacky things on her teeth.
Rania finally gets perfect teeth at the end and she gets new friends that really are her friends.

Beezus and Ramona By: Beverly Cleary
Beatrice or Beezus Quimby's biggest problem is her little sister Ramona. On Beezus' birthday Ramon baked her own doll into Beezus' birthday cake. Ramona was pretending to be Gretel from 'Hansel and Gretel' and pushed the witch (her doll) into the oven. Ramona locked Henry Huggins' dog Ribsy into the bathroom because Ribsy took Ramonas cookie. Ramona gets into a fight with a 9 year old boy over a grape lollipop (which the boy had already licked). I recommend this book to anyone. I liked every part of this book. How could a 4 year old be such a pest?

![]() The Geronimo Stilton Series By: Geronimo Stilton Geronimo Stilton is a book about mice. This book is not a comedy but I am sure you'll find something that will make you laugh! The reason I chose this series is because I really think some people would like it as much as I did. Geronimo Stilton books are for people who like adventure. If you ever read The Secret of Cacklefur Castle you will find man eating strawberries! |
Dear Dumb Diary
There are two friends Angeline and Jamie. Both have dogs. Angeline's dog is named Stickybuns and Jamie's dog is named Stinker. They are both excited to find out that their dogs were going to have puppies. Then end up naming the puppies Bubble Gum, Duchess, Prince, Fuzzybutt, Dingle Dangle, and Stinkette. I recommend this book to 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders, or anyone who likes funny books. |
The Lightning Thief By: Rick Riordan
This book is about a boy named Percy Jackson who figures out that Greek mythology is real! He has been curious about who his father was until he notices that his father is Poseidon, God of the Sea. I liked the Gods' powers and the fascinating creatures. I don't that that a lot of people important die and that Percy refuses to e a God. I think kids 7 years old and older would like this book. They would like the monsters and action.

Dear Pen Pal By: Heather Vogel Frederick
I'm reading a book called Dear Pen Pal. It is about five girls who start a mother - daughter book club; who write to other girls. There is a lot of exciting events that happen. They visit places they have never been to before. There will be a lot of mysteries but I can't tell you. You'll have to read it for yourself. The two things that I liked about the book were, how the girls keep a puppy secret from Emma because it was her birthday present, and I like how they go to Washington D.C. for the school field trip. The two things I disliked about the book are that Jess went to Colonial Academy (which is away from her friends) and that the book had to end! The people who should read this book are girls from eleven to twelve years old because they characters are in middle school. |
How I Survived Middle School By: Nancy Krulik
This book was a very good book. I recommend it for 5th graders so they know that they are getting themselves into next year. This book is also very helpful because it states realistic events and it gives you tips on how to survive middle school. At times this book can be very funny. Here is some of chapter 6, " Jenny I saved you a seat!" Felicia Liguori shouted at I climbed onto the school bus at the end of the day. Seeing her at the end of the school day really kept me going. I know it is short but I don't want to ruin the fun for you! |
![]() Grace Cahill, matriarch of the world's most powerful family, dies and leaves behind a challenge to her descendants. They can either inherit one million dollars, or forgo the money and receive the first of 39 clues that will lead them on an around-the-world adventure in search of, well, that's a secret. Amy and Dan Cahill are siblings who find out that they are part of this historically powerful family (they are related to kings, presidents, and revolutionaries from all over the world). They must criss cross all over the globe collecting clues, and avoiding the other competitors (Who all seem to have it out for Amy and Dan). |
The Alchemyst By: Michael Scott
Fifteen-year-old twins, Sophie and Josh, find themselves caught up in the deadly struggle between rival alchemists, Nicholas Flamel and John Dee, over the possession of an ancient book that holds the secret formulas for alchemy and everlasting life. The twins must trust Nicholas completely although they barely know him. They must travel to magical realms and become masters of their own inner magic. This book is not just full of magic it is also packed with adventure, mythology, and mystery. I could not put it down. What I found to be very cool is that Sophie and Josh find out that not only does Nicholas Flamel live, but also lots of other characters from mythology are living in present times. My favorite character is Scathach, a legendary Irish woman warrior and vegetarian vampire. This book may be a little challenging but is well worth it. |
Goodnight Moon By: Margaret Wise Brown
This book is great for younger kids. It has a lot of cool pictures and you can try to find a little white mouse on each page. I think it is kind of short, but that is probably because I am in fifth grade. It is written by Margaret Wise Brown and is illustrated by Clement Hurd. The rhythm is really soothing. It used to lull me to sleep when I was a baby. I think a lot of preschoolers will like it!

Out from Boneville By: Jeff Smith
This book is a graphic novel. A graphic novel is a book that is set up more or less like a comic book. The illustrations are so important when reading a graphic novel because that is where most of the story is explained. The illustrations that Jeff Smith has created are great. The story is very easy to get interested in. Fone Bone, Phoney Bone and Smiley Bone are all cousins. Phoney Bone has been run out of Bonville and his cousins stay loyal and follow him. There is only one problem, a freak swarm of locust attack and they all get separated and lost. Luckily all the Bones find somewhere to wait out the winter while still searching for each other . Unlucky for them the terrifying and dangerous rat creatures are also searching for them… but why? If you want to find out why or if you are just looking for a quick read, pick up Out from Boneville and the rest of the Bone Trilogy. |
