This is the third year of Taft's Outdoor/Environmental Club.  This year we will be meeting for 5 weeks in the fall and 5 weeks in the winter.  Our focus in the fall will be to continue the recycling project at Taft.  We will make posters to hang up in the school and make morning announcements to inform students and teachers of the importance of recycling. We will continue the recycling of drink pouches for Terracycle.  For more information you can check out their website at www.terracycle.net. Mrs. Onufer from the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum will join us to talk about animals that are indigenous to our area.  The JROTC will teach us about using maps and compasses and how to cross a rope bridge.  We will also learn about the sports of kayaking and orienteering.  In the winter we plan to use the snowshoes that were purchased for us by the PTA through the Kohl's grant that was received last year.  Thank you Taft PTA!!!!  Now we just have to hope for snow :)
