2013 Jump Rope for Heart:

February is American Heart Month and Taft Elementary School participated in their Jump Rope for Heart Events on the February 12th and 14th.  

At the 3rd-5th grades event the following students won the helicopter contest: GinaMarie P., Kara K., Emma C., Olivia B., and Ben L.  The students with the most consecutive jumps on the long rope were Sophie M. (3rd grade) with 57 jumps, Kaitlyn A. (4th grade) with 419 jumps and Jamie S. (5th grade) with 304 jumps.  The students with the most consecutive jumps on the short rope were Julia M. (3rd grade) with 249 jumps, Olivia B. (4th grade) with 338 jumps and Emily G. (5th grade) with 661 jumps.

At the 1st-2nd grades event in the long rope challenge Gianna S. had the most consecutive jumps for first grade with 45 jumps and Jamelis G. had the most consecutive jumps for second grade with 100 jumps.  In the short rope challenge, Delaney P. led the way for first grade with 86 consecutive jumps and Nike R. had 155 jumps for second grade!

The top grade-level fundraisers were Leani R. (1st grade), Vincent D. (2nd grade), Kara K. (3rd grade), John K. (4th grade) and Emma R. (5th grade).  Emma R. is the top volunteer in Taft School history with $1,155!  Taft School raised a total of $7,248.00 for the American Heart Association!  This money is used for research and education on heart disease and stroke, the #1 and #3 leading causes of death in our country. Thank you very much to all the students who volunteered their time to raise money for a great cause.
