On December 11, 2009 we celebrated Taft Elementary School's 50th birthday! We started the day by saying the Pledge of Allegiance and singing "Happy Birthday to Taft".  During the day we pretended that it was December 11, 1959.  May of us dressed up in clothes from the 1950's.  In physical education class we played games from the 1950's and also had our own Sock Hop!  We danced the Hand Jive, The Bunny Hop, The Stroll, and The Conga.  We also used hula hoops as we danced to music from the 50's.  It was a lot of fun!

Our teachers also walked us down to the main lobby where got to see the items that were placed in a time capsule that was placed in the cornerstone of the building in 1959. The PTA helped us make mini-paper cakes that we made into large cake displays in the hallway and cafeteria.  They also served us cupcakes for Taft's Birthday Party!  It was a fun day and we learned a lot about the 1950's and the history of Taft School.
