We are rapidly approaching the mid-point of the 2017-18 school year. It has been a very exciting and successful school year. I have had the opportunity to visit many classrooms this year and continue to be impressed by the dynamic lessons of our teachers and the enthusiasm and intellect demonstrated by our students. The Fall season was a successful one for our student athletes, with many teams qualifying for sectional play and several students signing their letters of intent to play college athletics. Masque and Mime had very successful productions and are already preparing for their spring musical.
Our Freshman class has transitioned well to the high school. Our Freshman Seminar program has been helpful by emphasizing time management, academic supports and the importance of making good decisions. We have already provided a number of assemblies to promote student physical, mental and emotional wellness. Of course, the upperclassmen at Washingtonville High School have set a good example for our students in regards to what it means to be a Wizard.
The winter season is off to a good start. Our athletic teams are off to a fast start. This week our Band and Chorus students have shined at their Winter Concerts.
As we reach the end of the first semester I thank and congratulate our students for their efforts to this point. I would also like to remind them that success requires continued effort. Also, it is important to take advantage of the resources and support Washingtonville High School has to offer.
As the holidays approach, I would just like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday and New Year.
“Once a Wizard always a Wizard.”
