Curriculum Mapping for Teachers: Using Online Mapping Tools to Plan Instruction

Instructor: Denise Lewis Grade Level K-12

This online course is for those who want to design thematic teaching units that will spark the interest of all students. Participants will explore the key components of curriculum planning, and design their own standards-based curriculum maps using Rubicon Atlas, an online mapping tool for teachers. With frequent collaboration and feedback, participants will know what works, and what needs work, before ever meeting their students.

Resources for Enhancing School Climate: Empathy, Compassion, UPSTANDER Responsibility and Responsible and Ethical Decision Making

Instructor: Cecile Wren Grade Level K-12

The research-based strategies and skills utilized in this online course will enable teachers to help students build effective relationships, and work through life's challenges in constructive and ethical ways. Through these efforts teachers will be able to will enhance school climate, make a difference in the lives of their students, change the fabric of their classroom communities and impact systemic change in their districts. Social Work CEUs available through Rockland BOCES for $25 Fee.

New York State Teacher Center Online Academy Course

Using Google Tools for Collaboration, Enrichment and Differentiation of Instruction

Instructor: Dorit Eilon Grade Level K-12

This fun and engaging course offered by a Google Certified Educator is designed to provide information and examples of various Google tools available to enhance the learning experiences of different learners. Participants will explore Google Earth, Google Docs (collaborative presentations, spreadsheets, documents and forms) Google Apps and Google SketchUp. Examples of how these tools can be integrated with different subject areas that are aligned to national and NYS standards will be shared.

Digital Resources to Complement Learning Styles

Instructor: Denise Lewis Grade Level 7-12

This online course is intended to familiarize teachers with 21st century tools to differentiate standards-based instruction for students of all learning styles and abilities. Participants will know and be able to identify individual learning styles, and upgrade a unit of study with digital resources aligned to the unique needs of all learners.

Teens and Technology

Instructor: Peggy DeCooke Grade Level 7-12

In this online course, we will explore teen's dependence on technology from a developmental perspective, focusing on how teens attend to and process information and why interacting in a virtual space is likely to be so attractive to them.We will explore ways of incorporating technology into the classroom in a reasonable and informed way, as well as how to communicate guidelines for safe and appropriate use.
