Welcome to Mr. Quigley's Web Sight

Requirements & Expectations

  • 9th & 10th grade students will be assigned to a 5 week swimming unit.

  • Students are required to change into appropriate clothing for PE class.

Appropriate clothing is: Sneakers, shorts, sweats, t-shirts and/or sweatshirt.  Students should dress according to the weather since many classes are held outside when possible. No hats are allowed in the gym.  All school dress code requirements apply to P.E.

  • Medical Excuses: All medical excuses must be submitted to the school nurse as soon as the medical condition begins or at the beginning of each semester for chronic problems.  The medical excuse will go into effect upon receipt and is not retroactive.  It is your responsibility to get your medical assignment from your teacher.

  • It is very important that any injuries or accidents that occur during class are brought to your teachers’ attention when they happen.

  • It is the student’s responsibility to safeguard belongings in the locker room and in the gymnasium.  All valuables must be locked in locker room during every PE class.  Locks will not be provided to the students.  You must purchase your own lock.  Locks should be removed at the end of each period.  Backpacks, book bags, purses and clothing should not be left out in the locker rooms.  Personal items may not be left in the gym during class.

  • IPods and cell phones should be left at home.

  • It is expected that all students will respect the equipment, should not misuse or vandalize any items.

  • If an unprepared student does not remain with his/her class for the entire class period, they will be charged with an unexcused absence.  Three lates to class equal a cut and no credit.

Physical Education Options

  • Make-ups will be available on blue days with Mr. Powers after school at 2:15p.m. Make-ups are not available for students who cut class or were unprepared for class participation. PM BOCES students that need to make up a class should see their Physical Education Teacher.

  • The unit will consist of four, five week long activities that address the three Physical Education standards: Personal health and fitness, safe and healthy environment, and resource management.

  • It is understood that individual students have different learning styles and different teachers have different teaching styles.  A student will have the same teacher and classmates for the entire semester.  Any changes to this will be dealt with on a case by case decision.

  • Grading procedure: each five week grade is calculated by the following

    Participation Assessment = 50%

    Skills Assessment = 25%

    Written Assessment = 25%

When in doubt about ANYTHING related to Physical Education, it is the student’s responsibility to ASK!
