Mrs. Yager in First Grade ... ... STILL in First Grade!
When I was in first grade, I enjoyed playing outside at my Long Island neighborhood. We always gathered outside to play soccer, baseball or football. I was a cheerleader and enjoyed gymnastics too! On rainy days, we played school, with dollhouses or Barbie Dolls. I also enjoyed playing hopscotch, jumping rope, playing cards and reading with my parents. I have many fond memories of my childhood. I loved to help others in school and sometimes got in trouble for being "too" helpful. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an elementary school teacher someday!
I am very blessed to be married to my wonderful husband. We have two beautiful daughters who surely keep us on the go with activities they are involved in. It is neat to see them growing and enjoying many of the things I did as a child! We enjoy spending time together ~ reading, painting, cooking, doing craft projects, playing sports, relaxing at the beach and going fishing! We love making memories and creating photoshows as our keepsakes.
My hopes became a reality as I began my teaching career in 1988. First grade is an awesome grade to teach because on a daily basis I have the opportunity to see many "AH-HAA!" moments as well as see the thrill and excitement on the children's faces as they learn to read, write and become independent learners. The children make great strides and tremendous progress by the end of the year. I am so fortunate to be in such a wonderful profession where I can truly make a difference in the life of a child and cheer them on as they begin their journey to becoming lifelong learners.
