My name is
Mr. Powers and I am excited to inform you that I will be your son/daughter’s
Physical Education Teacher for the current semester. In this letter, I would like to share with
you some important information about this course and ask you for your support.
The goal of
my Physical Education class is for your child to develop an appreciation for
physical activity and lifelong physical fitness. This may be a difficult task, but please know
that I am strongly committed to this goal.
I am convinced that your child will have a better quality and quantity
of life if this goal is met. I also
strongly believe that their performance in every other subject area will
improve if they are leading a physically active lifestyle.
I have been
teaching this subject for over 10 years and understand the challenges that I
will face in attempting to motivate this class of teenagers to be active during
the school day and beyond. I will often
be asking your son/daughter to do things that are challenging and physically
demanding. We will be participating in
activities that are focused on enhancing your child’s cardiovascular endurance,
muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, speed, and hand-eye
I am asking
for your support with this challenge.
You play an integral role in the success of your child in this and all
other classes. I am asking you to
encourage your son/daughter to participate to the best of their ability during
my class. Furthermore, please encourage
them to share what he/she has learned in my class with you and the rest of your
that if your child is struggling during my class, I will contact you
immediately. Likewise, if you have any
questions or comments throughout the semester, please feel free to contact me
using the information below. Please also
