All 4th grade students are invited to join!
Goals are as follows:


Definition of drugs

· What are examples of drugs?

· How do they affect our bodies?

· Why do people take them?



Peer pressure

· What is it?

· How do we manage it?

-Many activities, to include role plays, will be offered to reinforce refusal skills

-What does "cool" really mean?



Self-esteem

· What is it?

· How is it formed?

· How do we improve our self-esteem?

· How does self-esteem tie into drug use?



Media and its effect on society

· What is it?

· Where do we get messages that "flood our brains?"

· What are those messages, both positive and negative?



The Best "Me" I can Be…..

· What are ways to "stay fit?"

-Physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.



In addition to regular club meetings, ALL students will be active participants during "RED RIBBON WEEK". School-wide activities will be planned to help celebrate this week-long event.This is a time to let your creativity shine!



Parents will be invited to attend an informational session after one of the club meetings (an invitation will be sent home.) Distributed will be materials to help with ideas on how to speak with children about drugs. Any and all questions about the group are welcome!

*All meetings will take place in the library from 3:00 - 4:10 PM.

If you are planning to have someone else pick up your child from the club, please submit a written note each day. We are taking this precaution in order to ensure that your child is safe. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
