Reading -We are continuing to work in Guided Reading groups with novels, short articles, and nonfiction texts. We continue to discuss character traits, setting, mood, vocabulary skills, main idea, and the features of nonfiction and fiction texts. Please encourage and challenge your child to read books that are appropriate and rewarding!
Writing-We have researched, created outlines, and drafted short pieces on Colonial Life. We will continue to write in the content areas (science and social studies). Students are also looking at writing comparison pieces.
Spelling-Keep working on those "High Frequency Words" as it relates to their writing. We will continue with patterns and other related word groups.
Compound Words Quiz, 2/15/18
Math- Students are working on the basics of fractions. We will continue to reveiw and focus on word problems in class (as well as previously covered topics) and other previously taught concepts.
Social Studies-We are a few weeks into colonization and colonial life in New York. We will be discussing the 13 Colonies and New York's place.
