The Washingtonville Cross Country traveled to Gettysburg Pennsylvania to compete at the prestigious Carlisle invitational. The Wizards placed 12th out of 67 teams in the boys varsity division. Leading the way for the Wizards was the 66th place finish by Mikey Carroll in 17:52. Sophomore Bryan Nienstadt finished in 79th with a time of 18:00. Bryan improved over 3 minutes from last year at this course. Great race Bryan! Tommy Quinn placed 91st in 18:08, Zach Creeden rounded out the Wizards scoring by placing 129th in 18:31. Tom Lawless placed 143rd in 18:35, and Mark Pietrzak finished in 266th in 19:52. There were 465 runners in the race.
The girls placed 9th in their race with the Wizards taking the top two spots. Debbie Boerke captured individual honors with a fast time of 20:13. Sophomore (Newcomer) Brianna Lawless battled the last 800 meters to pass 2 runners to earn the silver medal in 20:52. Shannon Thompson placed 45th in 22:27. Sarah Hendricks ran 23:47 to place 114th. Elizabeth Lindestri placed 119th in 24:03, Michelle Gildea ran 24:46 finishing in 136th.
