Mr. Leonard is a certified New York State Teacher (Permanent) with K-12 accreditation in Art Education with 12 years of public school teaching experience, specializing in educational technology instruction to children and adults with applications within a fine arts curriculum. He completed his MS and BS at State University of New York at New Paltz, and later returned as a member of the Art Education Faculty.
In 2001, Mr. Leonard became the Assistant Swim Coach for the Boys Varsity Swim Team, and in 2003 joined the Girls Varisty Swim Team staff. The 2004 Girls Varisty Team secured 1st place in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) 400 Freestyle relay as well as winning both Conference and Sectional Championships.
He has presented curriculum design and technology education integration at various local and national conferences on behalf of the National Art Education Association (NAEA), SUNY New Paltz Art Education Department and Apple Computers, and presented at the Christa McAuliffe Technology Conference in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Mr. Leonard was chosen as an "Apple Distinguished Educator" by Apple Computers in 2003, and in 2009/2010 nationally recognized again by Apple Computers as implementing an "Apple Exemplary Program" for his curriculum work in graphic design and filmmaking courses.
In 2011, Mr. Leonard received the Washingtonville High School "ABCD Award (Above and Beyond the Call of Duty)," and later that same year received the "SUNY New Paltz Art Education Alumni Achievement Award" for his work in the Art Education community.
