I want to take the time to provide you with some information that will help you get to know me.
Professionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and New York State Elementary Education Certification. I also have a Master of Science Degree in Literacy Education from Mount Saint Mary College, the same institution where I earned my undergraduate degree. This will be my thirteenth year in Washingtonville School district and my eigth year here at Little Britain. I previously taught Kindergarten and Pre-K over at Round Hill Elementary before transferring to Little Britain to teach second grade. This will be my second year in third grade.
Personally, I love to read, write, and spend time at home. I live in Ulster county with my husband, our two children and our dog Willy.
My goal as an educator is to help students develop an outlook that will help them to become life long learners. My mission each year is to develop in the children a positive feeling for school, a positive self-image and self-confidence. Research shows that positive self-esteem established early on is one of the strongest correlates for school success. Through all of our activities, the children will be encouraged to attempt new experiences and to develop good feelings about themselves and school. I also feel it is important for all students to be responsible and become more independent as the year progresses. I will guide my students in a way that will help them to become self-sufficient and responsible for their work and behavior.
I hope this information is helpful in letting you know who I am and my expectations for my students. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to drop me a note.
